SANA'A (Saba) - The Minister of Fisheries in the caretaker government, Muhammad Al-Zubairi, inaugurated the second fish selling point in Bani Al-Harith District in the capital secretariat.
The inauguration of the point of sale comes within the economic empowerment projects for poor families, with the support of the Supreme Agricultural and Fisheries Committee, the Ministry of Fisheries, the Capital Secretariat, the Agricultural Cooperative Union, the Fisheries Cooperative Union, the Agricultural, Fisheries Initiatives and Projects Financing Unit in the Secretariat.
Al-Zubairi pointed out that the goal of these points is to alleviate the burden on citizens in light of the current difficult living conditions of the citizen as a result of the aggression and siege, pointing out that the Ministry is moving to generalize this experience to many places and regions, with a focus on population density.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the Internal Trade Sector, Muhammad Qatran, explained that this project will create competition in order to provide fish to citizens at competitive prices, less costs and better quality, after the citizen suffered during the previous period from high fish prices.
Just when fishing is claiming a place among the community priorities and now that it seemed that issues related to food sovereignty had begun to interest Brussels and the Member States, the sector is disappointed with an EU budget modification, approved by both the Council and the Community Executive, which withdraws money from the specific structural fund for fishing, the FEMP (European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund) to respond to other "urgent and common challenges", says the European Commission proposal.

Scotland’s salmon farming sector is to face a new inquiry from the Scottish Parliament’s Rural Affairs and Islands Committee (RAIC), to look into the implementation of recommendations resulting from a previous inquiry by its predecessor, the Rural Economy and Connectivity Committee (RECC), in 2018.
The RECC report considered the state of the salmon industry in Scotland, identified opportunities for its future development and explored how fish health and environmental challenges could be addressed.

Although algae cultivation in Chile is a reality, production is still very low. Much of the potential surface area for algae production is still unexploited. These characteristics, together with growing seaweed exports, the need for imports in the industrial sector, and seasonal and fluctuating production, suggest a high potential for small-scale seaweed aquaculture in Chile; However, the sector remains underexploited.
It is in this context that a group of researchers from the University of Biobío, the University of Concepción, the University of Florida and (INCAR) have investigated the potential of algae cultivation considering the high incidence of risk for its low production.
