NORWAY
Tuesday, May 14, 2024, 01:00 (GMT + 9)
Fresh catches of mackerel from the coast and seven hauls from the edge of the continental shelf.
It has been a relatively quiet week at sea, with six vessels reporting blue whiting catches from the edge and some pelagic fishing for both mackerel and North Sea herring.
Blue whiting
The week started with two large catches from Faroese vessels totaling 4,970 tonnes delivered in Karmsund and Egersund. These catches are taken south of the Faroe Islands. In addition, we had approx. 1,600 tonnes of blue whiting from the industrial fleet in the North Sea.
The Norwegian vessels in the North Sea also had 864 tonnes of spring-spawning Herring, as well as small quantities of Argentines, Norway pout, and North Sea Herring
Sandeel
Vessels have been searching, but fishing has not started yet and better results are now hoped for after 17 May.
